SUNDAY 29 March at 2200hrs we recieved message that one of the homeless girls was in labour in the streets at corner First Street and George Silundika in Harare CBD. Our CEO who was still in the office preparing for the impeding shutdown quickly rushed to assess the situation. He arrived and was told she had been in pain/labour for 4 days now but with now help and she was not eating.
So we took the young girl who is 19 years old straight to Edith Opaman Clinic in Mbare. She had no preparation whatsoever and we made calls and one of our EatOut Movement colleagues who stay in Hillside about 15mins drive from the clinic donated some baby clothes and some other essentials as the clinic told us that we needed to bring some baby preparation. We drove quickly to Hillside and collected the baby clothes and essentials donated but when we got back, it was more bad news!
